Agora's User Picker for Microsoft Project Server 2010
is a free add-on to the Microsoft EPM Suite of tools.
In our dozens of Project Server 2010 installations, we
have found that customers have difficulty implementing
workflow and reporting around custom fields.
In Project Server, there is no native functionality
to allow for the selection of a user from a user group
via a drop-down list. The typical work-around is
the implementation of look-up tables but these can be
difficult to administer and complicated to use in a
workflow or report.
The typical usage of the User Picker is to specify the
Sponsor or the Portfolio Manager of a project.
Agora's User Picker for Microsoft Project 2010 is installed
as a Sharepoint Solution file. It is a web-part that can
be dropped into any Project Detail page. It is designed to
be completely seamless in terms of look and feel to the EPM
Suite.
User Picker allows a customer to configure drop down lists to
select users for any custom field. Users are selected from
user groups that are already implemented in the Project Server
2010 installation. It allows selection of multiple
name/group pairs and can be used anywhere in the Portfolio
Management or Project Management functionality within Project
Server 2010.
With Agora's User Picker for Microsoft Project Server 2010,
the configuration and maintenance of workflow and reporting
functions within the Microsoft EPM suite is significantly
simplified.
